Hope everybody likes a good ol' fashioned one tire fire! Had fun with this one, although the actual productivity of this episode is a bit lacking. Just decided there weren't enough (or any!) actual burnouts on this channel and couldn't pass up this opportunity. Also, at 10:02 I mistakenly said "brake boosting" instead of "power braking" and didn't realize it until the video was uploaded so here comes the angry mob! Everybody off of the streets!

So you know... when my 305 Camaro saw over beyond 260. It lit the fuel in the intake as I shut off the car (less cooling air). It went pop blew pieces off the filter housing, popped the dipstick out. It all went back together. Mine would overheat going slow. The cure was to drive it fast. It usually worked. Except that time, the temp kept rising. it was an intake -head issue. Not repairable so I just dealt with the symptoms. I was low on coolant that day, didn't realize it. It was probably the lack of airflow doing the burnouts, and that there's no real cooling intake on those F-bodies. Should be fine with the pump like you said.

+PGTMR2 The pump is on the smooth side (as opposed to the ribbed side) of the belt either way, so the rotation won't have changed. Seemed to stay cool just fine before, so I assume it'll be okay now

I know NOTHING about cars... I mean I know how to change a tire and check oil levels and such, but not to the extent you're doing. I've always wanted to learn all this stuff so I could rely less on mechanics (I've got screwed by a mechanic before). Thusly I find your videos not only informative, but funny and I really enjoy watching them. I have no desires to be a grease monkey though. However basic knowledge of how to fix your own vehicle I believe is important. Anyways thanks for the videos and I hope to see more of this car and other projects down the road!

Your cars paintjob may be not perfect, but adding scratches to it still hurts seeing. Love the car and your videos.

that is because this firebird is equipped with what is called an "Open Differential" to put it simply, there is nothing to lock the two rear wheels together for traction and all the power travels to the wheel that is slipping the most (also known as following the path of least resistance)

I use oil treatment viscosity additive in my mom's Jeep to quiet the valve train, does an excellent job doing so. ZDDP formulated oil treatment on the lifters might help too, giving some zinc insulation between the cam and roller, and the treatment itself being sticky enough to give the cam something to ride on for lubrication. An engine sitting for a long time should be treated just like a rebuilt one, NEVER let it idle, rev it to at least 2,000 rpms for several minutes, oil pressure must be built up and circulating as quickly as possible, and get those rings relubricated and seated again.

Hey man really enjoying the series! What you can try to fix the lifters is to add quart of diesel with the oil and to idle the car for about 10 mins after 10 mins rev up the car couple of times and see if it solves the problem, if it wont, leave it to run for a while longer, after youre done change the oil.

The oil is dirty, but synthetic cleans the motor a wee bit, like you said, after a few oil changes, it should be good to go. I used seafoam once a year and had over 220,000 miles on the clock when I got rid of it. Keep them coming, I love the video's and with no annoying music to go along and awesome voice over work.

I don't know where you've heard that the 305's are prone to lifter ticking, I've owned a bunch of 3rd gen formula's and TA's and I've never had a lifter tick. Secondly, the roller lifters are less tolerant of misadjustment (as compared to flat tappet with enough additive in the oil) and also make noise faster when misadjusted. That said... I'm pretty sure your noise is not an internal engine noise at all, I'm pretty sure that's an exhaust leak at the manifold. Check carefully with an inspection mirror AND make sure all the manifold bolts are tight- sometimes you'll see it under the ports, usually the middle 2 ports, but it could be any of them and sometimes you won't see anything but you'll find that the bolts are loose. Honestly, the only way to tell for sure is to pull them off and see where the carbon deposits are. If you're convinced you have a sticky lifter you should be able to find it pulling the valve cover and checking basically like you check adjustment (lots of the time that lifter plunger will just drop when you push down on the rocker) and other than taking it out and either taking it apart and cleaning it or just replacing it, the best old school fix is to use a quart of ATF in your oil (it's a thinner lubricating oil with a mess of detergents added to clean deposits).

For comment readers .Always take the security nut off first , not last. and install it last. Do not use a impact gun if you want them to last, use a breaker bar. Doing it this way is less stress on the key tool as the other 4 are holding the rim in place. Every security nut warning/instruction label tells you to do it this way. I cringe every time I see someone use the impact gun on them.

Honestly I hadn't thought about it that way before (very rarely have I worked with security lug nuts) but it does make sense to take it off first and torque it last. And the impact gun doesn't get along with most types of non-standard lug nuts so it didn't surprise me that the security lugs were getting a little deformed. Good tips!

I pretty much finished my rebuild of my Junkyard WS6 and couldn’t document any of it. I’m still here to watch your Videos but frankly even it was only 3,300 subs, it took me years to get where I was and I’m not too keen on trying again
