YOU have NO idea how accurate this movie is. As a programmer who's worked through the 90's 00's and 10's this is INCREDIBLY representative of a 90's workplace. EVERYTHING from the dress to the cubicles to the language to the characters... IDENTICAL. BUT what matters most and the MOST important takeaway - the transformation of Peter. It is 100% TRUE that the less you care about your job the HIGHER YOU WILL RISE. THE NEUROTIC WILL FALL. At this point, I am making the most money I have ever made for the least amount of work because... I DON'T GIVE A !@#$#@...

We have TPS forms at work-no relation to the film. We, unfortunately, have many other absurd and soul crushing traits depicted in the film. I get by with a dry and cutting sense of humor. I've been told in two separate yearly evaluations, by two different managers, that people sometimes have trouble figuring out if what I just said to them is true. Always, leave them guessing.

When I first saw the movie, I just assumed that Jennifer Aniston was friends with the producer or director or something so they convinced her to do what seemed like a low-budget-no-stars movie for scale, sort of as a favor. I had no idea she was a plant from the studio.

This movie came out when I was 24 and so perfectly nailed the setting for useless, entry level jobs. Cube farm was exactly like my first job, down to the color scheme and glass doors to the offices of the (thousands of) vice presidents. Like Peter said they paid me just enough not to quit and I worked just hard enough to not get fired.

Accounts Payable pays the company's bills. I have yet to see any commentary on this. It seems as though Nina is overwhelmed with calls because there are so many companies demanding to be paid. Either she's putting them on hold, hoping they'll hang up, or she just cannot keep up with the overwhelming crush of people asking when they'll be paid.

Office Space rocks. After 15 years in a corporate environment watching this movie was like watching a show about my life at work. Every one of these characters existed at my job. I had a Lumberg, a Michael Bolton and even an O Face. This movie is a dead on balls depiction of the soul sucking office life in America. So glad I’m self employed now and out of that corporate rat race!

I had a female coworker in the body shop office at the late great Ron Price Motors (where I met my husband) who had pictures of Michael Bolton all over her office cubicle. (it was a real office, but it was small. It had a swinging glass door that locked and everything) I look back on that time of my life with great fondness. (she later married an Arab man who liked a lotta bang for the buck, you might say) I had pictures of River Phoenix in the file room. And 1950's cars.
