I don't think NBA players of today could hang with the basketball players of the old days!... ironic! The exact opposite of NFL MLB and NHL players of yesteryear could not hang with today's players. Could you imagine Peyton Manning or Mike Trout or Alex Ovechkin playing back in the 60s or 70s??

That's not true. Players from yesteryear training today would utilize modern training methods, just as today's players playing in yesteryear would use the training methods of the time, so it would all equalize. If your scenario is simply putting players from yesteryear into a time machine and seeing how they would stack up today as-is, sure, the NFL players would not stand a chance against today's HGH monsters. But baseball? No problem at all. Baseball has always been more about skill than physical ability. Willie Mays would have no trouble hitting home runs against today's pitchers, and Sandy Koufax would have no trouble striking out Mike Trout. I think the old time NHL stars would do quite well also. Hockey has always been mainly about stamina and endurance, and mental toughness. Gordie Howe could hold his own today slamming guys into the glass. He was 6-2 and 205, physically similar to today's players.

@UCM2uppCOWYafz5El1xQJoFg Yeah, debatable though. LeBron would have been a completely different person if he grew up in Jordan's day. Society has definitely played a role in shaping our athletes. It was just a different time, and society doesn't praise "tough guys" like it used to. If Jordan grew up in LeBron's day, I'm sure MJ would have been a lot different too

I have described the NBA as a shoot around league many times so I totally agree. Extending the 3 point line would help, for sure. And I remember post up play. That is a very lost art. Basketball used to be so layered and enjoyable. You had specialists, like 3 point shooters. Power forwards to box out and grab rebounds. Point guards as tacticians and play makers. True Centers that would get in down low and hold that hand up, demanding the ball. Now everyone is a point-forward or point-center.....basically everyone is a Kevin Durant or Steph Curry. We want to ISO and shoot 3s no matter our height or size or position. It's frankly disgusting to watch.

Players from the 90s were demanded to play 48 minutes of lockdown defense AND 48 minutes of high octane offense. I don't see any players that exist now that would have done well in the 90s. I know they say every great player will adapt....but, these guys today stand absolutely still on defense, flop and travel on offense, and seem too much like women/divas. Could you imagine Bill Lambier high tackling Lebron James? Lebron would cry and retire in the same day. NO, Lebron would retire after his coach told him 'Oh you gotta play defense, too man, you can't just STAND THERE."

Maybe Magic, but thats just speculation. Isiah made A LOT of enemies in his day. Remember when he said Larry Bird would just be another guy if he was black? That was a bad take. Apparently Isiah spread rumors about Magic being gay after the HIV confession. That would clearly upset Magic and anyone else who heard that. Could see guys having trust issues with Isiah. And as for Basketball in the 90s, yeah, I totally agree. I miss that style of Basketball. Now with the analytics movement, its all about 3s and layups. Its like every game is a shoot around now. Add to that the "clear path rule", no hand checking, freedom to travel everywhere, and quicker technical fouls.... and it just doesn't have the same intensity anymore, and offense is too easy. One thing I think they should do is extend the 3 point line. I think that would fix a lot of things for the NBA. For one, extending the 3 would make 3 point percentages go down, decreasing the value of the 3 point shot, and increasing the value of the 2. It would force players to focus more on the mid-range game, and Centers would have to play more like big men of years past. Just my opinion, but I really think it could work

I hate to say I would have cut Chris Mullins. But I would have cut him and Laetner(sp?)...and had Isiah and Shaq on that team. I so enjoyed that time of basketball. Basketball felt really special all through the 90s. It doesn't feel special nowadays. But the most special thing to happen to professional basketball (in my opinion) was the Dream Team. I have never experienced that level of awe and happiness from watching sports. And yes, they would have catered to any demand to have Jordan on the team. Some interviews show that he wasn't exactly enthusiastic about playing over the summer anyway, so it would have been easy for him to decline if Isiah was there. I wonder how many of the team members would have declined? We know MJ and Scottie for sure. Maybe Magic?

It's not always about talent. Character - what you say and the way you behave, attitudes - they matter..... Isaiah tried to say nice things about MJ on NBC as a broadcaster by 1998. But Has he ever apologized for doing things like walking off the court? I don't think so.... That would go a long way towards making amends. I think Jordan said after he retired "You don't get no apologies in this game". OK - well then Isaiah should know why he was left off the team - and Maybe Magic was right, maybe most guys didn't want to play with Isaiah.

Some argue that the 2008 Redeem Team could have beat the 1992 Dream Team. IMO the 92 Dream Team was more talented overall, but the 08 team was all healthy. You have to keep in mind that Magic wasn't in the NBA at the time, and Bird was dealing with back issues and hardly played. Meanwhile on the 08 team, Kobe and Wade were in their prime, and Lebron was in his physical prime. Not saying the 08 team would win... I'm just saying that I think it would be a lot closer than many people realize

I saw some great High School players here in Chicago that you knew they were going to be dominating in college and were probably on their way to NBA stardom. Mark Aguirre, Terry Cummings and yes, Isiah Thomas. The Pistons did not play tough defense. Lots of teams played tough, hard nose D back then but the Pistons were dirty and the league let them get away with it because it created news. Before the "Jordan Rules" and before the bitch move of walking off the floor after getting swept, Isiah talked several players into freezing Jordan out of the 1985 All Star game in his rookie season. Thomas was a punk and he deserved to be left off the Dream Team. The real crime was picking Christian Laettner over Shaquille O'Neal as the lone college player to play with the NBA greats.

I don't know shit about basketball like the NBA players and all that but I knew of the two names mentioned . I don't blame M J because after just seeing an old clip of him attacking his own coach physically you don't need that behavior on a team called the dream team . Dreams are pleasant Thomas is not therefore he would fit better in the night mare team instead . Scumbag he is I wanna slap him across his face than elbow him twice and gut punch him to the heart and loved twice than upstairs to uppercut him three times and than finish with a knockout punch weak ass wanna be bully

Debatable. I've watched that All-Star game a couple times in its entirety. Theres no clear indication that MJ was froze out of that game. He got a decent amount of shots for an all-star game, and there was actually several instances where Isiah passed the ball to MJ. I knew of this rumor, but didn't include it, because I don't think theres enough to support its validity. Plus telling that story would have added another several minutes to an already long video. I think the details I chose to include do enough to explain why there was a HUGE beef between MJ and Isiah.

Isiah Thomas is still bitter and jealous of Michael Jordan to this day. His eyes light up whenever someone mentions MJ’s name in an interview just so he can belittle him on camera.

OK I realize the late 80s early 90s pistons were a good basketball team but I think they were at their best when they stayed away from the dirty tricks, which were in reality unnecessary. They had Vinnie Johnson coming off the bench in his prime! That's how deep & talented they were. The championship they won against Portland in 1990 I think proved this. The pistons KNEW intimidation tactics against that specific trailblazer team was NOT going to happen! Portland though a clean playing sportsmanlike team had a rough group themselves, Duckworth, Porter, Kersey, Buck Williams & so the pistons just played basketball, their best imo, they came close to a sweep beating them 4-1.

A Black MALE does not have the POWER to make WHITES leave LARRY BIRD off the TEAM, therefore he did not have the power to make this happen. Non-blacks wanted STOCKTON on that team (more white players than Larry & the WORST DREAM TEAM player ever in "LACKNER"). Only white folk have the power to STOP blacks from getting the JOBS they deserve. Obama was critical of POLICE, the POLICE attacked POTUS Obama for that but when TRUMP dogged the CIA, FBI & more, they said LESS or NOTHING AT ALL when TRUMP had negative things to say about them. Trump called the POLICE CORRUPT, yet they did NOT RESPOND. ETHNICITY rules, not the MOST TALENTED individuals.

SO glad Isiah Thomas wasn't on the Dream Team. He was a talented player, but his personality makes him nothing more than a LOSER. That smile of his is fake.

Back in the days, I always thought Isiah Thomas looks a little "feminine", if not gay. I said I wouldn't be surprised if he ever comes out after retirement. Still waiting...
