I think Alex started out alright in this video. But the longer it went on he kept digging holes. I have schizophrenia and let me tell you no one in my family knows why and most of them can't even tell. But in reality it has ruined my life in so many ways. The brain is really easy to "break". Wake up people our brains are stuck on some sort of "I don't want to believe reality mode". If everyone became schizophrenic over night people with my stuggles wouldn't be so stigmatized.

I've tried to get off these meds it won't work for me. Straight facts. But I can tell you the right dose of CBD works you just can't do both at the same time without your brain being flooded with chemicals.

The India example is completely stupid for anyone who actually understands what was going on in the 1800s colonial India, everyone was basically a prisoner in their own country, not exactly a level ground to base scientific data on... The more I listen to this doof, the more his evidence seems circumstantial and vague interpretations of studies

I think maybe a lot of the mental problems for poor, and even sheepish folk whom don't eat real food, comes from us being starved of nutrients (Fat especially); if not just literally starves. I am basing this from what I have heard about keytones, and the natural survival anxiety it puts out to makes us more aware so that we don't let ourselves starve to death. Therefore, plausibly (I'd say) long-term effects may have serious consequences to our mental state. I may not be right it is a theory of mine. Maybe, I don't understand ketones correct. From my perspective this seems more plausible than schizophrenia being caused from outside the brain (other than serious emotional and or physical trauma). I am at the bottom level of the financial standings(Poor rather), so I think I see this more then those even a step outside of poverty. As well I suffer anxiety and am bi-polar. Not to down play this discussion either, I am in concurrence with Joe and the Dr. Michael Hart; tho not quite Alex (he seems biased and in use of "bad science"). But High THC is totally in need of discussion and study (thorough and unbiased). But I have been a regular pot user since like 12 or 13. As far as my experience being anxiety ridden and/or manic depressive from early in life (possibly as earl as birth). I use because it alleviates a lot of the anxiety, however a more potent cbd blend would probably work better although I seem to need high thc. But it seems if I am not getting enough fat n vitamins in my diet the pot barely helps at all. It is atrocious, the quality of affordable available food(and the toxic chemicals some have in them or their packaging. We might as well eat sawdust.

Alex's only case "we don't know" only rebuttal necessary - we don't know doesn't mean you're right. saying you don't know is the end of your argument anything after that is nonsense since we've already established you do not know. Fear of the dark doesn't mean there's monsters in it.

I smoked from 15 years old to 24 years old high grade pot every day. Now I have edibles every now and then maybe twice a year and I can eat wayyyyy more than other people. It would be interesting to see a study on the affects of THC on the growing brain. Also once I made a brownie mix with half an ounce and my mate slipped in a heap of hash. We woke up stoned but it wore off by night time and we were smoking cones again.

Studies should be double blinded on both sides. One funny study should have scientist think they are using bible verses to cure ptsd, but instead giving them cbd and have scientist beliving they are giving cbd, but they are getting bible verses. That are some resuslts that would be fun to watch. In my opinion, biases are killing progress at a much higher lever than before (I am mostly wrong)

Psychiatry is a largely debunked profession as it has no scientific basis. Look up the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) editor's commentary on the entire field of psychiatry. Moreover, citing FDA as a valid testing evaluation authority is getting to be a worse and worse joke by the year. Simply review detailed statistical analysis for MOST 'approved' pharmaceuticals, especially psychoactive medications. Berenson is simply a biased shill (a.k.a. foolish preacher.) Berenson can mostly fuck off!

The problem with using mental illness as a metric.. is that it is a trending disorder of the 21st century, designed by big pharma to get people hooked on drugs, that you can’t measure or even diagnose so hard statistics are not available, it can’t be diagnosed by a brain scan and isn’t actually associated with a chemical imbalance in the brain so saying rates of anxiety or depression has increased in correlation with anything means NOTHING

Just pot. He thank God has been fine ever since and of course doesn’t smoke pot. It wasn’t violent at all just delusion grandeur out of touch with reality type issues. Few points to make here because I wish they were emphasized more. No one is advocating the use of marijuana for 11 year olds if it were legalized it would have an age restriction just like alcohol Generally speaking people don’t take a hit from a bong and immediately want to stab someone it’s silly to try to keep arguing that it makes people violent Saying that it’s not a medicine because of certain side effects is silly because almost every medication can have side effects on certain people If you legitimately think that marijuana should be illegal but are perfectly okay with alcohol being legal I can’t take any of your argument serious Edit: The gateway drug argument is awful, because it is illegal you have to get it from dealers who could have other drugs (a point that was made) but none of them even mentioned the possibility of a dealer lacing weed with another drug 2nd edit: THIS IS A DOCTOR ARGUING AGAINST A DAMN JOURNALIST FOR THE NEW YORK TIMES. That statement saying “ if you don’t consume pot for 4 weeks, genuinely all your receptors will return and it’ll be like you never smoke pot before” is totally not accurate I’m a very heavy user myself and I had to stop smoking pot for 60+ days to for a drug test, I stop completely smoking and anything that had to do with pot and unfortunately did not pass that drug test it actually took me little over 70 days to test fully clean, I came to know that THC attaches itself to your fat cells which mean if you’re on the chubby side it’ll stay in your system a lot longer than just 4 weeks

Listening to people debate things unproductively over things like who said what and why and when in what way in reference to what angle of perspective of the situation. Im and others, are not and should not be interested in hearing people defend themselves. If one must defend themselves, it means theyre point is weak enough or has enough holes in it that it is necessary to defend it. It’s also unnecessary to berate a person like that and poke their holes because after hitting enough nails, you think you’re a pretty good and calm hammer. Going back and forth is anti helpful. Questions going in circles and circles with maybe a couple brief statements is actually a more efficient manner of going about compiling differing data files. More “philosophy” is needed, especially in topics such as this. Idk man they don’t seem smart to me at all, it’s just a matter of reading enough papers consecutively and being able to remember that. Like, nothing special about anything said there because the people doing those findings, don’t know anything about anything else. In that regard they’re on the right track, but their opinions have become identified with the findings of those who have not found what it is they are looking for. More or less. Idk this whole talk was nice, nicer than when others have just argued the whole time, but at least that was funny. This was just rly irritating because the solution of the beginning of the unraveling of the solution the world needs in regard to this topic was right under theyre noses the whole time, and they just danced around it. Maddeningly. Still funny but I mean I’m not in the mood for laughs I’more concerned with all round progress. And that was not this, it was basically just the left and right wing arguing with each other and being reasonably pleasant to each other. Entirely fake. And in that way, outrageously hiLARIOUS. Aliens must be so confused as all get out, literally rofl their alien butts off at why we’re trying to untie the knot by tying more knots and hope the rope doesn’t fray in to several more pieces of rope and start the problem all over but even more separate instances for the problem to be solved or complicated

  61. Brandon O'Neil

Drugs and medicine do not exist. There are deconstructing substances that allow for new paradigms to be erected, and the substances we call medicine can all be used in a fashion that does not only not help, but can perform and give results similar to what we call “drugs”. To declare something a drug or a medicine is to suggest that you know everything about about everything about physiology. That’s the only way to be able to call anything by a class of categorization and not have a piece of the puzzle missing. If you’re 90% right, you don’t know how much larger that 10% is than what you think you know. Love the debate. They were however debating wrong concepts, the topics were sound but they are thinking about the situation in a much much smaller fashion than it rly is. It’s not about drugs or medicine. It’s about culture, culture defines what those things are. So, you should debate what makes a person a person or a person to view things in a certain way, which gets you into relativity and metaphysics. This is just the equivalent of 10 year olds debating which game to play. Like, you’re learning about some old war in school. I mean, I didn’t learn much, it was just nice to hear people with limited perspectives talk because I’m able to make much more use of their knowledge because they are basically in their own echo chambers, just in a way that the chambers are all connected in a semi flimsy/strong way. I reiterate, drugs and medicine don’t exist as much as light and dark do not, for they are the same thing, just as we are mind and body but not both but the same, capable of using an infinite amount of individual data points in infinite ways. You are what consumes and uses and produces the experience that you have

I'm 29 years old and have been smoking pot since I was 9. My mental health has only decreased since, but i was mentally ill before i ever touched marijuana and I have used several other drugs. So is it marijuana's "fault? I don't know. because it actually helps me in moderation now and has for quite a few years. I also started using opiates about a year later and it ironically was because the person i got pot from also had Coke and Oxy Contin. So i tried them and got addicted to the Oxy {I'm on Methadone now, but still stuck}. Now, would I blame using marijuana? Probably not.. I'd blame myself... I still struggle with Opiate addiction today and I have to say marijuana use {for me} will never be enough to get me off opiates 100%. Maybe for somebody else, but I've been smoking everyday for years and it has never made it any easier. Definitely not easy enough to "Replace" it. It helps me medically in other ways, but not with that unfortunately. I do know people who I believe marijuana has effected negatively, but I don't know anyone who admits it. I also know people who it effects positively. I believe it can be a great medicine for the right people but it can also be harmful for the wrong people.

I am surprised that "Big Pharma" hasn't pushed to have laughing or smiling outlawed because it has great health benefits and gets in the way of their profits. 🤣🤣😊

Alex needs to just listen to the ads on TV with the "legal drug dealers" Big Pharma and all of the negative side affects associated with all of their bullshit drugs...Literally 2/3rds of the commercials are side affects...."If you die stop taking [insert drug name] and see your doctor right away" ....THC doesn't have any side effects and only has potential good affects!!! HELLO. I'd put money on it that says this guy was published by Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson! Thumbs up if you think he is in someway connected to big pharma! 👍😆

I can see it helping veterans a lot, not just because of ptsd but a lot of them have irregular sleep just from odd sleep patterns over the coarse of years. 1/3 veterans suffer from sleep apnea for example.

Alex is beyond brainwashed. Its hard to listen to him spew his nonsense. Might as well say drinking water causes psychosis because 100% of the people with it have drank water.

"kids today are less likely to be drinking, smoking or having sex" The graduating class in my town has a huge number of pregnant teenagers and I hear constantly from high school age coworkers about drinking and smoking. I find it hard to believe that they are doing it less than the late 90s when I graduated.

Sigh...I love MJ. Been trying to quit for a while. Find myself asking why on day 9 of keeping clean but unfortunately even at once a night 3-4 x a week I still notice mental dullness, depersonalization, etc. I wish it wasnt so...I knew this shit was too good to be true. I just keep hearing moderation but more than once a month and a cycle begins. Leaves on reddit makes weed seem like heroin tho

“But in Canada we...” Yeah, because they do everything so well in Canada. You broke your own Canadian Laws by not asking Alex which pronoun he identifies with... Go back to Canada and smoke your medicine.

As questionable as the laws in Canada are surrounding gender pronouns, they don't work quite like that. Additionally, we may have a lot of political problems but we do indeed handle cannabis very well here. Cool your jets man, you just come off as petty

So, I'm a long time viewer of this podcasts, I love Joe's work in comedy, mma and obviously this, and I'm a long time pot smoker, I would really love to hear Joe's take on how can you make yourself a proactive stoner, I have one friend who's like this, but for all intents and purposes every time I smoke weed I have to separate like 4 or 5 hours cuz I know I'm no use to anybody while I'm high. Anybody has any ideas?

Cannabis ampilfies your thoughts and emotions.if you are depressed dont smoke cannabis but if you are a person who isnt afraid of letting go and inspecting the deepest fears of your mind you will get over the paranoia.Irrational fears you experience with cannabis are just a part of the environment you are in or maybe you are schizophrenic.
