Russel makes a strong point after joes comment at 2:41:19. it’s more expensive at the end of the day because of the scarcity of resources. Beef is more resource intensive than chicken and the way that we have decided as a society to allocate those scarce resources is by economic stratification. Yes there should be the rights that everyone has access to x y or a whether it’s meat or housing or land but the inherent problem is that we have too many people to allocate our resources efficiently while simultaneously being fair. So we have a choice, do we want to have some overarching authority that decides how many people we have on earth so that those resources are allocated fairly while negative externalities are also considered? Or, do we continue with unfairness mixed with some negative externalities but not all are accounted for?

Russell seems just like my dad: fun to talk to but a nightmare to live with. His thinking is meaningless because he hasn't any self discipline to work things through. Instead he picks out convenient ideas from his wide reading. Our notion of reality must be tempered by the reality of pain. Can Russell's ideas about life survive sustained pain? If not, what's the use of them?

Brand's musing on the self-sustaining nature of bureaucracy is my favorite since Žižek's Brazil reference, in which De Niro's electrician character is forced underground, state assets hot on his trail, because of his maddening proclivity to...fix electrical problems in a timely fashion.

I love listening to Mr. Brand these days, but I have some misgiving over the "spiritual" answers you both seem to espouse. I have about 10,000 gazillion questions for you. Letting people "find their own way" is finding us on the way to extinction...what now? Mr. Brand is sounding just like the gurus of the Beatles Era...so why will this magically work better now just because 50 years have gone by? What do you do with the recent article that shows American women want to have more children and only 17% of mothers with children under three who want to work full time? Just tell them to go to hell? What would this new society and economy look like? Don't you think you should have some sort of realistic example and description before you ask the rest of us to give up our lives and the things we use to make our lives up of? What makes your religion better than mine? Do you really believe no one on the planet has a workable and peaceable sense of self? Just curious on what you think people are, before you even get into the rest of it...maybe you should talk to me.

Joe and Russell confuse the effects of slavery here with the effects of welfare. “If we wanted to be serious about evidence, we might compare where blacks stood a hundred years after the end of slavery with where they stood after 30 years of the liberal welfare state. In other words, we could compare hard evidence on “the legacy of slavery" with hard evidence with the legacy of liberals."-Thomas Sowell Candace Owens actually understands more than both of them the actual reasons for poverty in the black community today. They underestimate the depth of her understanding.

It seems like Joe never takes into account that with more of a positive lifestyle that more people will be motivated to work & spend their energy toward being productive. When people are ran into the ground from their economical & social standing sometimes all they can do is not be as productive as the person next to them. Everyone hasn’t learned or born to overcome every barrier thrown in front of them.

Joes rogan sure have some dumb ass ideas every now and then like @ 3:11:32 70 % tax over 10 million is not workin because the person would end his busines after earning that amount. Off course this would not happen since business owner would use his money so he would like to aquire more, but if this were to happen so what its just 1 person it is his own business to guit and take early retirement. Another very childish comment was 3:06:27 this "effort equality". Earlier Rogan said that there are people who are born in situation that they have no change to get better life, but then for some reason he thinks that when people who work harder and smarter earn what they got. That is just total lie. In USA Alone the 1 % colletct over 20 % of all income in the country how can you say that for example jeff bezos is working harder when compairin his salary to worker in amazon the amount of hours that worker would need to work exceeds the workers life span multiple times then the question is not even harder adn smarter ? That's also as dumb. Rich people exploit current system like they have always exploited systems. If case of bexos he have this fancy computerized way of organise things that has to do selling shit. This system is what makes most of the work through emplyess who use the system to calculate items sold on the amazon. It has nothing to do with Bezos, but only owning and because he came up with some way to make online selling very profitable it doesn't mean he is working for his earnings because other people do it for him. So Those on top has to exploit those on bottom in order to get rich and it happes through owning. I like owning too, but I don't find any reason to defend rich people how by exploiting the system and the people it should server don't care none of those things so fuck you Rogan you idiot. Most other things I agree on this podcast.

Sorry joe, as a fellow vegan, i can physically see who looks healthier, of the two. Look at Russell, he is literally glowing. Look at his before interviews/pics! Even his hair has thickened (unless he is wearing a weave, which i highly doubt). Joe has no hair (even if hereditary, diet can certainly aid in the progression of male pattern baldness), a lot of redness & puffiness in his face/hands, etc..I could go on, but ill stop.🙂

Stefan Nihoniho You may not know who Ted nugent is, however, your reply was very indicative of the uneducated nonsense, he often spews. Sorry for presuming where you retrieved your information. Moving on...Are you a vegan? If not, then you really don’t have a leg to stand on. Are you a pot smoker, again, if not, you have no proverbial leg to stand on. People that have no clue what their talking about, often make uneducated assumptions. I think Joe Rogan & millions of others who smoke weed, lead productive lives, is proof enough, that it doesn’t make everyone who uses, ”spaced out”. Nor do i care about your personal opinion. Its lacking the very basis of what an opinion should dispose, experience/knowledge! I dont even watch Russell brand like that! Nor does it take a rocket scientist to see the obvious . 😊

    • Stefan Nihoniho

+Spongeblonde1 What in my reply had you think I was grasping words from Ted Nugent? I have no idea who that is... Weed doesn't make you grounded it makes you more spaced out mannn, far out did you not know that mannn. Weed heightens what you already are and surface shadow aspects that have been repressed down. Has most people more spaced out then before they smoked it. I love Russell and share his videos often, his insight is amazing but I don't agree with saying he's light years ahead. If it's obvious how is he so far ahead or is it possible you're speaking from a bias perspective that Russell resonates more with your journey? Stefan Nihoniho Yeah, i wouldn’t grasp onto the words of the self admitted “worlds biggest hunter”, Ted Nugent! Joe is stoned, I shall hope his “”energy is grounded”, for the amount of pot he smokes. Russell is LIGHT years ahead of joe, that is blatantly obvious! No diss to joe, it is what it is. Nor would one article prove that veganism is not better for your body/mind. As a fellow vegan, i can attest otherwise! Nor, do I do it solely for the “animals”. Ignorance is certainly palpable! 😉

Joe feels energy wise far more grounded then russell Also it's not completely possible to be a healthy vegan by definition as the mono crops in agriculture destroy a ton of life to allow the demands of consumers and on premature farms the soil needs nutrients from blood and bones and what not. lauramatsue.com/2019/05/09/from-vegetarian-to-eating-meat-how-i-used-veganism-as-an-outlet-for-my-anger-and-reflections-on-loving-kindness/?fbclid=IwAR0cFIVIjbX438wJ8Dd3mxmUv-A-RM879RuwEpAZgWdbXktATb0Zv4ATQ5I

want zen? play a concert in front of 15,000 ppl..or 15 even....pure muscle memory mixed w/ improvising riffs perfectly I would never dare trying to pull of in rehearsals...absolute concentration but zero (awareness) consciousness of what I'm doing in that moment...

Joe is really good at mitigating life now that he's rich. Id love to see Joe not rich and see what he was like if he didn't eat elk. Or couldn't eat elk. I hate when people think their great because they have it easy. Congrats bub you have money and you are happy but if you become a bigger douche you'll hold another record
